Maja Pantic

AI Scientific Research Director - Meta / Imperial College London

Maja Pantic is a Professor in Affective and Behavioural Computing at Imperial College London and a Generative AI Research Director at Meta AI (2020 – to date). Previously, she was the Research Director and Co-founder of Samsung AI Centre Cambridge (2018 – 2020). Prof Pantic has co-authored more than 500 papers with more than 50k citations and an h-index of 105 to date. She received various awards for her work on automatic analysis of human behaviour, including IAPR Maria Petrou Award in 2020 and British Computer Society Roger Needham Award in 2011. She served as an Associate Editor in top AI journals, including International Journal of Computer Vision (2021- to date), IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (2011-2021) and IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing (2015-2017). Previously, Prof Pantic was the Editor-in-Chief of Image and Vision Computing Journal (2009-2019). She is a Fellow of the UK’s Royal Academy of Engineering, an IEEE Fellow, and an IAPR Fellow. She has served as a Program Committee member and Vice Chair for the IEEE Fellows Evaluation Committee and the Royal Academy of Engineering Fellows Evaluation Committee. She regularly serves as the Program Committee Member and an Area Chair for the top-tier conferences in Computer Vision including the IEEE Int'l Conf. Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), Int'l Conf. Computer Vision (ICCV), European Conf. Computer Vision (ECCV), and ACM Int'l Conf. Multimedia (ACM MM).
